Discover the newest tech that’s improving home entertainment, including 3D Sound — or Binaural, 8K televisions and high-end audio speakers, to create the ultimate consumer experience.
What is binaural beats? When you hear two tones, one in each ear, that are slightly different in frequency, your brain processes a beat at the difference of the frequencies. This is called a binaural beat.
Let’s say you’re listening to a sound in your left ear that’s at a frequency of 133 Hertz (Hz). And in your right ear, you’re listening to a sound that’s at a frequency of 122 Hz. Your brain, however, gradually falls into synchrony with the difference — or 11 Hz. Instead of hearing two different tones, you instead hear a tone at 11 Hz (in addition to the two tones given to each ear).
Binaural beats are claimed to induce the same mental state associated with a meditation practice, but much more quickly. In effect, binaural beats said to reduce anxiety, increase focus and concentration, lower stress, increase relaxation, foster positive moods, promote creativity, help manage pain and many more.
Meditation is the practice of calming the mind and tuning down the number of random thoughts that pass through it. A regular meditation practice has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, slow down the rate of brain aging and memory loss, promote emotional health. Binaural beats between 1 and 30 Hz are alleged to create the same brainwave pattern that one would experience during meditation
iHeartMedia announced iHeart 3D Audio and an expansion into binaural podcasting, exploring how podcasts can be more immersive and create a sense of movement. iHeartMedia aims to harness binaural audio to evolve its podcast network and provide a multifaceted listening experience as consumers turn to digital format entertainment.
VR tech companies have harnessed the unique qualities of binaural audio to create realistic and engaging experiences for consumers. In a VR, if a user turned around and the audio experience did not turn with the user, it can decrease the depth and enjoyment of the experience.
Virtual events such as live concerts, live streaming and games increase in frequency, binaural audio can help audiences and fans engage with the event as real as if you are there and further enhance interactivity.
Immerse yourself in sound all around you. As real as if you are there at a live concert or with the artist recording in a studio. With 360 Reality Audio, music has never been so immersive and so real.
Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking brings theater-like sound that surrounds you from the movie or video you're watching, so that it seems as if the sound is coming from all around you. The sound field stays mapped to the device, and the voice stays with the actor or action on screen.
